The owner of the UK branches of TGI Fridays, Hostmore has announced its entrance into administration, with plans to sell 87 of its restaurants.
Hostmore is currently in the process of attempting to sell the restaurants in hopes of the completion of this before the end of September. It has appointed Teneo as its administrators following a collapse in plans earlier this month that expected the purchase of the chain. The restaurants will remain open during the administration processes.
TGI Friday, which stands for ‘Thank God It’s Friday’, was founded in New York in 1965 where the first restaurant location opened on 63rd Street and 1st Avenue and was most known for its circus themed performers at the time. The first UK location was in Birmingham in 1986, just before the first London location, Covent Garden, was opened one year following.
