42-year-old rapper, Nicki Minaj, has been sued for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress in a lawsuit filed on January 3rd in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The claimant, Brandon Garrett, states he was Minaj’s day-to-day manager at the time of the incident, which allegedly took place on April 21st during the rapper’s ‘Pink Friday 2’ tour in Detroit. He claims that he was on route back from running an errand for Minaj, when he received a text that stated Minaj wanted to see him in her dressing room. Upon arrival, he claims that there were eight staff members present, as well as other employees and Minaj’s previous manager. The lawsuit states that Minaj became angry and complained about the staff ‘not knowing what they are supposed to do, and who reports to who.’

The filing then claims that Minaj turned and approached the claimant while proceeding to shout at him. Immediately following this, Minaj allegedly open-handedly struck Garrett on his face, causing his hat to come off from his head, and hit him on his wrist, which left a ‘throbbing’ sensation. Garrett claims that Minaj that required Garrett to leave the room, where he then locked himself in a bathroom for several hours before being notified that he would not be joining the group on the bus to the next tour stop in Chicago.

Garrett states he took a flight to the next tour stop, he contacted Chicago Police Department to request a police escort as he ‘feared for his safety and did not know if his belongings had been removed or tampered with.’

Minaj’s legal team have stated that they are confident that ‘the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.’
