The Irish branch of New Look has entered liquidation following years of financial losses. This results in the loss of roughly 350 jobs, as well as the closure of 26 stores located in Ireland.
This follows a High Court ruling and the commencement of a 30-day consultation process with the employees who are impacted by the units’ sales. Employees were notified of the liquidation impacts on January 27th.
In a statement released, New Look announced that ‘following a strategic review’, it was ‘no longer viable to continue trading in Ireland.’ It continued to explain ‘Given the increasingly volatile trading conditions, we needed to expedite our existing plans, which included a review of our operations in the Republic of Ireland.’
