Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper has announced a new intended law which puts criminal sanctions against individuals who work with children and fail to report claims of sexual abuse.
This change will be implemented into the Crime and Policing Bill, which is due to appear before Parliament this spring.
This announcement follows a social media scandal from Elon Musk after he first accused Sir Keir Starmer of being ‘complicit in the rape of Britain’ in association with grooming gangs while he was the director of public prosecutions between 2008 and 2013. Musk also attacked the safeguarding minister, Jess Phillips, by stating she ‘deserves to be in prison’, following the denial of requests to allow the Home Office to conduct a public inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Greater Manchester. This came about after girls as young as 11 were groomed and raped in Oldham, Rochdale, Rotherham and Telford in a scandal that came to light in 2013.
