Disposable Vapes to be illegal in 2025

The Tobacco and Vapes Bill has been confirmed to come into effect in England and Wales on June 1st 2025. 

The Bill bans the sale and supply of single-use vapes and defines these as: ‘non-rechargeable or refillable, and are typically discarded as general waste in a bin or littered, rather than recycled’. 

The ban is also a part of the government’s commitment to end the nation’s throwaway culture as the single-use vapes have been found to contribute to the litter numbers after being thrown away after use. When sent to recycling factories, they also have to be disassembled by hand which is a lengthy process, often longer than the production times of the creation of the vapes.
